I’ve gathered together the questions that I’m most often asked, some of which may provide answers to the questions you have about hypnotherapy and working with me.

Hypnotherapy is therapy which is delivered to a person when they are in a relaxed state of heightened awareness. In this state, your subconscious mind becomes receptive to receiving information. A hypnotherapist can then work with a person’s subconscious mind to encourage changes to their thoughts, feelings, habits and behaviours. As a result, this can then lead to positive changes taking place in a person’s life.
Hypnotherapy can help with a wide range of conditions such as anxiety, depression, stress, insomnia, fears, phobias, pain, infertility, smoking and weight issues. Hypnotherapy can also be used to increase confidence or performance, for example in sport, work or creativity. Hypnotherapy can also be used for past life regression.
Hypnosis is not 100% guaranteed to work for every condition in every person. It depends on the person’s commitment to change and whether the subconscious mind will accept the suggestions made in hypnosis. However, for many conditions, hypnotherapy is highly successful, for example, it is listed as an effective therapy for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). Working with the subconscious mind is an extremely powerful tool which can be used to make permanent changes, almost everyone can be hypnotised, however a person cannot be hypnotised if they do not want to be!
You will not be asleep whilst in hypnosis. You will hear all the sounds around you and your senses may become more heightened. You will find that the hypnotic state is very pleasant and relaxing. You will remain in full control at all times and cannot be made to do anything against your will. Hypnosis is a completely natural state, a person will often enter a hypnotic state several times during the day, for example when engrossed in a task or falling asleep.
This depends on the nature of the goal or desired outcome that you wish to achieve. This can range from a single session or more. Prior to any treatment taking place, a free consultation will be given where a detailed history will be taken and any questions that you have can be answered. The number of approximate sessions needed will be discussed during the initial consultation.
Hypnotherapy works just as well online as it does face-to-face, in fact you could argue that in some cases it can be more effective as the client is in the comfort and privacy of their own home and may relax even deeper than in a face-to-face session. A reliable internet connection and a comfortable place to sit during the session is a must. If possible, headphones with an attached microphone can be worn during the session to bring my voice closer to you, however this is not essential.
